岐阜かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館で公開された「飛燕」は国内に現存する唯一の機体で、経済産業省が認定する「近代化産業遺産群」の1つとして認定された航空遺産である。

「川崎キ６１　三式戦闘機二型「飛燕」（６１１７）の戦後史」

　この機体は1944年（昭和19年7月：推定完成時期）に川崎航空機岐阜工場で製造された「飛燕」二型試作機：機体番号6117号機です。戦争中、この機体は陸軍航空審査部所属であり、終戦直後1945年8月に福生飛行場（現米軍横田基地）でアメリカ軍に接収され、1045年～1953年まで現米軍横田基地で屋外展示されていた。そして、日の丸は米軍マークに変えられ、垂直尾翼にUS AIRFOCE 0022111と」記載されていた。
　1953年12月に日比谷公園で展示された際は、米軍マークは日の丸に変わり、垂直尾翼の米軍シリアルナンバーも消されていた。そして、この年に米軍から日本航空協会に譲渡された。
　1963年5月には東京の二子玉川遊園地の航空博覧会で展示された。その後1986年から2015年夏までの29年間、知覧特攻平和会館（鹿児島県南九州市）に展示されていたものを、同機の生まれ故郷となる同社岐阜工場（岐阜県各務原市）において、機体を所有する日本航空協会の監修の下、破損部位の修復、欠損部品の復元などを行なってきた。機体は何度も塗装されたが、今回のレストアで、工場で完成した当時の姿のまま、塗装はされていない。

"The Hien fighter" shown in Gifu Kakamigahara National Air and Space Museum is an aviation inheritance authorized as one which Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry authorizes with the only body existing in the country of "the modernization industry inheritance group".

This body 1944 (July, 1944:) A "Hien" two type prototype made in) in Kawasaki plane Gifu factory at estimated completion time: It is the body number 6117th unit. It was army Airlines Credit Division position, and this body was requisitioned just after World War II in Fussa airport (existing United States Armed Forces Yokota base) in August, 1945 by the U.S. forces and, during war, was displayed the outdoors from 1945 through 1953 in existing United States Armed Forces Yokota base.And the Japanese flag was changed by United States Armed Forces mark and was listed in a vertical tail with US AIRFOCE 0022111.
When it was displayed in Hibiya Park in December, 1953, the United States Armed Forces mark turned into the Japanese flag, and the United States Armed Forces serial number of the vertical tail was deleted. And it was transferred to the Japan Aviation Assoc in this year by the United States Armed Forces.

It was displayed at the aviation exhibition of the Futago Tamagawa amusement park of Tokyo in May, 1963. For 29 years from the next 1,986 years to the summer of 2015, it was displayed in the Chiran suicide attack peaceful hall (Minamikyushu-shi, Kagoshima) and performed the restoration of the damage part, the reconstruction of the loss part under the supervision of the Japan Aviation Assoc which owned a body in company Gifu factory (Kakamigahara-shi, Gifu) where it became the country of birth of the plane.The body was painted many times, but, in this restore, is not painted as a finished then figure in a factory.
