1.4kmに渡る屋外展示で、公園のようになっており、暖かい季節にはとても気持ちのいいこの場所では東西分断の歴史を知ることができる。引き離された家族、壁を越えようとして命を落とした人々など、冷戦時の人々の暮らしを想像させられる。当時の壁が沢山残っており、壁の構造も知ることができます。
敷地の中にあるベルナウアー通り(Bernauer Strase)沿い、記念館の端にあたる足元には、「境界の壁(BERLIER MAUER)」の文字が刻まれた金属板が、残ったベルリンの壁と交互に敷かれています。
その金属板からは、無数の棒が上に向かって伸びている。このように壁の残骸を残しつつも、誰もが自由に出入りできるのが特徴で、ベルリンの壁があった歴史を伝えつつも、閉塞感を取り払う造りなっています。
The
1.4km outdoor exhibition is like a park, where you can learn about the history
of the east-west divide during the warmer months. Imagine the lives of people
who broke up or lost their lives trying to cross walls. There are a lot of
walls left, and the structure of the wall can be understood.
Along Bernauer Street, at the edge of the monument, a
metal plate with the letters "boundary wall(Grenzmauer)" and letters
are laid alternately with the rest of the Berlin Wall.
From the metal plate, countless sticks extend upwards.
It is characterized by the fact that everyone can go in and out freely, while
leaving the remnants of the wall in this way, and while conveying the history
of the Berlin Wall, it is built to remove the sense of obstruction.
