テンペルホーフ空港は、ベルリンの南側、ブランデンブルグ門から南に約5㎞の所にあり、1936～41年に建設されたナチスの巨大建造物に共通する巨大な半円形をした元ターミナルビルがそびえ立っている。

冷戦初期の1948～49年の旧ソビエト連邦による「ベルリン封鎖（Berlin Blockade）」の際には、同空港は「ベルリン空輸（Berlin Airlift）」のハブ空港となり、戦争で荒廃した西ベルリンに食料や燃料を空輸する西側陣営の航空機が約27万7000回着陸した。近くの公園に空の架け橋記念碑がある。

2010年に公園として開放されて以来、テンペルホーフは、住民らが滑走路跡でのスケートやジョギング、芝生でのピクニックを楽しむ野外レクリエーションの場所となっている。

Tempelhof Airport is on the outskirts of berlin's south side, towering over a huge semicircular former terminal building common to the Nazi megastructures built in 1936-41.

During the Berlin Blockade by the former Soviet Union in the early 1948-49 cold war, the airport became the hub of the Berlin Airlift. About 277,000 western aircraft airlifted food and fuel to war-torn West Berlin.

Since opening as a park in 2010, Tempelhof has become an outdoor recreation venue where residents can skate, jog and picnic on the lawn on the runway
