＜旧大槌町役場庁舎＞
津波で半数近くの職員を失った大槌町役場庁舎は震災遺構として前半分を保存することで決定した。やはりここでもかさ上げ台地を造成中で、一時的に庁舎の周りを囲っている。（2016年5月)
2011年３月11日、大槌町役場は高さ10メートルを超える津波に襲われ、庁舎の２階まで津波にのみこまれた。間一髪逃れた職員もいるが、職員の約20％に当たる40人が犠牲になった。28人が庁舎で、11人がそれ以外の場所で亡くなった。その後、震災が原因でみずから命を絶った職員も１人いる。
町役場庁舎は、一時は震災遺構として残すことを決定したが、犠牲者家族の意向を尊重し、取り壊された。

The decision was made to preserve the first half of the Otsuchi Town Hall, which lost nearly half of its staff in the tsunami, as an earthquake disaster remnant. A raised plateau is being constructed to temporarily enclose the government building. (May 2016)
On March 11, 2011, the Otsuchi town hall was hit by a tsunami with a height of over 10 meters, and the tsunami engulfed the government building up to the second floor. Although some staff escaped by a hair's breadth, 40 people, or about 20% of the staff, were killed. Twenty-eight died at the government building and 11 elsewhere. After that, one employee took his own life as a result of the earthquake.
Although it was decided to leave the town hall as an earthquake relic for a time, it was demolished in consideration of the wishes of the victims' families.
