千年希望の丘「千年先まで伝えたい」
「千年希望の丘」は、東日本大震災の津波により人が住めなくなった土地を活用し、市の沿岸約10kmにわたって「相野釜公園」、「藤曽根公園」、「二野倉公園」、「長谷釜公園」、「蒲崎公園」、「新浜公園」の6つの公園と園路が整備されている。
丘と丘を園路（緑の堤防）でつなぐことで、津波の力を減衰させる役割があるほか、いざという時の避難場所にもなっている。
また、丘の土台などには、人々の生活の証である※震災ガレキが用いられており、大津波の痕跡や被災者の想いを後世に伝え、さらに集落跡地などの遺構の保存による震災の記憶や教訓を国内外に発信するメモリアル公園と防災教育の場として活用されている。
千年先まで子どもたちが笑顔で幸せに暮らせるよう願いを込めて「千年希望の丘」と名づけられた。
慰霊碑の高さは津波が押し寄せた水位８mと同じ高さで、人と人が支え合う形のモニュメント。中心には「鎮魂・記憶・希望」の意味がこめられた鐘が取り付けられている。

There are six parks and garden paths along the 10 km coastline of the city: Ainogama Park, Fujisone Park, Ninokura Park, Hasegama Park, Kamazaki Park, and Niihama Park. ing.
By connecting hills with garden paths (green levees), it has the role of attenuating the power of tsunamis, and it also serves as an evacuation site in case of emergency.
In addition, the foundations of the hills are made of rubble from the earthquake*, which is proof of people's lives. It is used as a memorial park to disseminate the memories and lessons of the disaster both domestically and internationally and as a place for disaster prevention education.
It was named Millennium Hope Hill with the hope that children can live happily with smiles for the next 1,000 years.
The height of the cenotaph is the same as the water level of 8m when the tsunami surged, and it is a monument in the form of people supporting each other. A bell with the meaning of "requiem, memory, and hope" is attached to the center.
