Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture
The east side of "JR Yonomori Station", a difficult-to-return zone in Tomioka Town, is undergoing decontamination work as a designated reconstruction and revitalization base zone (reconstruction base). And the demolition of vacant houses is progressing. Evacuation orders have been lifted for about 90% of Tomioka, but only 15% (as of January 2022) are residents.
<Yoru no Mori Station/Cherry Blossom Trees/Mega Solar>
Yonomori Station has been newly built, but there are no people in front of the station.
The "Sakura Namiki" in the Yonomori district, which is famous for cherry blossoms near the station, is still alive. Then, a "mega solar power plant" was built by installing solar panels for photovoltaic power generation in the place that was a vast field.

*Release of evacuation orders for difficult-to-return zones
In August 2021, the government will implement measures for those who wish to return to the 7 municipalities in Fukushima Prefecture (Minamisoma City, Tomioka Town, Okuma Town, Futaba Town, Namie Town, Katsuo Village, Iidate Village), which are designated as difficult-to-return zones, by 2029. A decision was made to decontaminate homes and roads and partially lift evacuation orders.
The plan is to begin decontamination in 2024.
"The treatment of the homes and land of those who do not wish to return is undecided." Only about 8% of the difficult-to-return zones are designated as “specific reconstruction and revitalization base zones,” which were prioritized within the zone.
This is the former Tokyo Electric Power Company Energy Museum (a facility for publicizing nuclear power plants), which has been remodeled into a decommissioning museum while leaving the building as it is.
As a facility to look back on the memories and records of the nuclear power plant accident and hand down the reflections and lessons learned, the exhibition shows the responsibilities that TEPCO should fulfill.
The current situation and technical matters for decommissioning were also displayed in detail with videos and panels, making me feel the strength of responsibility.
In particular, it explains in an easy-to-understand manner about "tritium",
which cannot be removed by purification equipment in ALPS-treated water
by purifying radioactive substances from contaminated water
It states, "There is almost no effect of external exposure, and even if it enters the body, it will be discharged out of the body in the same way as water."
They also expressed a strong desire to eliminate concerns about contaminated water.
However, there are many unclear parts about how to solve the current situation that does not go as planned.
